FIBA EuroBasket 2017: Slovenia defeats Serbia to claim gold

Slovenia claimed their first ever FIBA EuroBasket title on Sunday after defeating Serbia 93-85 in the final in Istanbul.

Goran Dragic led the way for Slovenia with 35 points, while Luka Doncic added 22 points and 10 rebounds. Boban Marjanovic was the top scorer for Serbia with 25 points.

Slovenia started the game strongly and led by 10 points at the end of the first quarter. Serbia fought back in the second quarter, but Slovenia maintained their lead at the break. The third quarter was a close affair, but Slovenia managed to extend their lead to 10 points heading into the final quarter.

Serbia made a late push in the fourth quarter, but Slovenia held on to secure the victory. The win is Slovenia's first major basketball title, and it is a fitting reward for a team that has been consistently improving in recent years.

Slovenia's victory is also a major upset, as Serbia were the heavy favorites to win the tournament. However, Slovenia played with great heart and determination, and they deservedly came out on top.
