Bridget Jones's Diary 4: Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant, and Emma Thompson Return

Bridget's Back!

Fans of the beloved "Bridget Jones's Diary" franchise can rejoice as Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant, and Emma Thompson are all set to return for a fourth installment. The news was officially confirmed by Working Title Films, the production company behind the series. The fourth movie, tentatively titled "Bridget Jones's Baby," will once again be directed by Sharon Maguire, who helmed the first two films.

Colin Firth's Return Uncertain

The only major cast member who has yet to be confirmed for "Bridget Jones's Baby" is Colin Firth, who played Bridget's love interest, Mark Darcy, in the first three films. However, sources close to the production say that Firth is in talks to reprise his role. If Firth does not return, it will be a major blow to the franchise, as his chemistry with Zellweger was a key factor in the success of the previous films.

Hugh Grant's Return

Hugh Grant, who played Bridget's other love interest, Daniel Cleaver, in the first two films, is definitely returning for "Bridget Jones's Baby." Grant sat out the third film, "Bridget Jones's Baby Diary," but he has said that he is excited to be back. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Grant said, "I'm thrilled to be back with Renée and Sharon. Bridget Jones is such a great character, and I can't wait to see what she gets up to next."

Emma Thompson's Role

Emma Thompson, who played Bridget's best friend, Sharon, in the first three films, is also returning for "Bridget Jones's Baby." Thompson has said that she is looking forward to working with Zellweger and Grant again. In an interview with Variety, Thompson said, "I love Renée and Hugh. They're such great actors, and they're so funny. I can't wait to see what we can do together in this new film."

Release Date

"Bridget Jones's Baby" is scheduled to be released in theaters on September 16, 2016. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Helen Fielding. The novel was published in 2013 and became a bestseller.
